Job Opportunity: Travel RN - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
Specialty: RN OR
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Work Schedule & Call Requirements
- 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
- Call: 1 shift per week; 1 weekend per month
Case Experience Required
- General OR procedures
- Endarterectomy with stents and patches
- Some aneurysm and vessel cleaning/stripping clots
- Orthopedics: totals, ORIF, arthroscopy
- General surgery, laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy (GI)
- Some GYN procedures
- Relief for ENT tech (tubes, tonsils/adenoids, thyroids, nasal fracture repair)
- PACU experience: assist with patient recovery during call-back situations
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (American Heart Association card, front and back if not electronic)
- ACLS (required for all RNs except psych and true med/surg units)
- PALS (as required per specialty/unit)
- Valid nursing license (Kentucky or compact license for KY ARH facilities)
- Nursys verification within 30 days of start
- License/certificate verification updated on extensions and annually
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
- Previous travel experience preferred
Residency Requirement
- Must reside within 100 miles of the facility
Orientation & Start Date
- Orientation offered bi-weekly
- Start date on job is the start date needed
Health & Immunization Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccine (proof of completed series; religious and medical exemptions accepted with documentation)
- Influenza vaccine (required Sept 1 - May 31; religious and medical exemptions accepted with documentation; declinations not accepted)
- MMR: proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer prior to start
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, proof of 3 vaccine series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer prior to start
- Tdap: valid within 10 years; declinations accepted
- TB Quantiferon blood test within 1 year prior to start
- Annual physical or physician note stating clear to work without restrictions
Background & Compliance
- ARH 20/20 Background Check within 30 days prior to start (includes criminal, SSN trace, sex offender, SAM, OIG checks)
- Drug screen (ARH 20/20 panel) within 30 days prior to start
- Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start
- Annual updates required for background, drug screen, licenses, certifications, and health documents
Additional Required Documentation
- ARH Submission Packet (must include required experience, facility, and unit info)
- Specialty job description signed and dated
- Skills checklist and competency exam within 1 year prior to start
- Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives
- Assignment confirmation uploaded within 24 hours of offer acceptance
Notes
- Candidates must not be submitted to more than one job at a time
- All documentation must be current and compliant with ARH policies
- Religious and medical exemptions require proper documentation and timely submission
This position offers a diverse surgical caseload in a regional medical center with a strong emphasis on compliance and credentialing. Ideal candidates will have solid OR experience, relevant certifications, and the ability to meet strict documentation and residency requirements.
