Job Summary: Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Belleville, Illinois
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital (Magnet Hospital)
Unit: Cardiac Telemetry Unit (40 staffed beds on unit; 222 beds in facility)
Shift: 12-hour night shifts
Schedule: Every other weekend required
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: 3-4 weeks from compliance clearance, biweekly start dates
- Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Floating within patient units at both campuses required
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
- Return to Office Restrictions: No greater than 7 days
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)
- Scrub Color: Navy

Clinical Responsibilities
- Work on a fast-paced cardiac telemetry unit during night shifts
- Manage critical care cardiac drips and cardiac patient care
- Perform cardiac sheath pulls and central line management
- Conduct hourly rounding and bedside shift reports with all patients
- Must be self-sufficient in managing cardiac patients
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit (verify with facility/unit)
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Illinois (no pending licenses accepted)
- Primary source verification required
- NURSYS verification required for RN licenses
Compliance and Background Checks
- Government-issued ID required (Driver’s license for Home Health positions)
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including:
- Statewide searches
- Nationwide and international searches if applicable
- Education verification of highest nursing degree
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required quarterly
- Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
- State-specific exclusion and sanction list checks for Illinois and Missouri
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include a full panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing required annually (N95 respirators)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (required every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Unit-specific competency exam required annually (oncology competency if applicable)
- Skills checklist within 1 year of start (oncology skills checklist if applicable)
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Employment application required
- Various facility-specific documents and trainings must be completed prior to start (e.g., regulatory compliance education, latex allergy questionnaire, hepatitis B declination)
Special Notes
- Cardiac drip management, sheath pulls, and central line care are essential skills for this role
- Must be comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity cardiac telemetry environment
- Floating to other inpatient units within the hospital system may be required
- Candidates must adhere strictly to facility policies including dress code and hand hygiene to avoid being sent home
