Description

Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical/Telemetry

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Responsible for self-studying telemetry strips upon acceptance.
  • Must pass a basic dysrhythmia test during the first week to work on the telemetry/medical-surgical unit.
  • Provide patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Patient populations include Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry.
  • Positions available on Medical Surgical Unit and Telemetry Unit.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • Estimated work week: 36 hours with possible overtime.

Required Credentials & Compliance

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for onboarding (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required for onboarding

Licenses

  • Valid professional nursing license with primary source verification (e.g., BON & NURSYS for RNs)

Health & Immunizations

  • Influenza Vaccine (or facility declination) – Due annually by December 1 (season Sept 1 – March 31)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine (declination accepted)
  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
  • Hepatitis B (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
  • Tdap (valid for 10 years; declinations accepted)
  • TB Test (negative test within past year; if history of positive, additional documentation required)
  • Fit Test for approved respirators (completed prior to start)
  • Health Statement from physician within last 12 months

Testing & Screening

  • Drug Screen (10 panel, within 30 days of start; THC not required)
  • Background Check (within 30 days of start; includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender)
  • Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check (state requirement)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG Screening (within 30 days of start)
  • SING, NSO, OFAC screenings (within 30 days of start)

Documentation & Verification

  • GRH Skills Checklist (completed within 12 months)
  • BD Screening Attestation
  • Education Verification (third-party verification required)
  • Professional References (2 required, including 1 supervisor)
  • Resume or Profile submission required
  • Driver’s License or State ID (unexpired government-issued photo ID)
  • I-9 Attestation (completed)
  • OSHA Questionnaire (candidate completes)
  • Pre-Orientation CBL Acknowledgement Form

Additional Notes

  • Must maintain high standards of professional nursing practice.
  • System access and onboarding require timely completion of agency or facility-specific documentation and attestations.

This position is ideal for RNs with medical-surgical and telemetry experience who hold current ACLS and BLS certifications and meet the outlined credentialing and health requirements.
