Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (Travel)

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Must have a Wisconsin Respiratory Therapist license in hand prior to start date
• Current critical care experience required or must have worked in critical care within the last 12 months
• Ability to manage a heavy workload
• May need to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed
• Certifications required:

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • PALS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - optional but preferred
• Must be able to work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH)

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Completion of Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Onboarding and Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
• Ascension Core Competencies and Specialty Exam with minimum 80% passing score
• Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical competency) completed within one year of start and updated annually
• Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile) submission required
• Two professional references required prior to first assignment
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others completed within 30 days of assignment start
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
• Verification of education relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
• Confirmation of assignment documentation on agency letterhead
• Employment verification for the past seven years

Health and Safety Requirements

• Proof of vaccinations or immunity for:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – no declinations accepted
  • Varicella – no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination series completion or signed declination)
  • Influenza vaccine (seasonal; exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
• Fit Test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 Regular, 3M 1860 Small, or 3M 1870+) updated annually
• TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire
• Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually or if break in service > 90 days

Additional Notes

• The Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Form is completed onsite by the facility and does not need to be uploaded prior to start
• A forward-facing badge photo with a white or blue background is required
• Driver’s license or state ID must be current and valid, matching address requirements for compact licenses

This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with recent critical care experience who are licensed in Wisconsin and meet the comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
