Description

Job Opportunity: B3B PCU Nurse

Location: Chandler, Arizona
Unit: B3B - CHF Telemetry


Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in CHF Telemetry required (no exceptions)
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA) required
  • Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts only)
  • Pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation (failure results in 6-month disqualification)
  • Candidates must not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year

Unit Details

  • Beds: 30
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
  • Patient care technicians (PCTs): 1 per 15 patients
  • Respiratory therapy equipment: Nasal Cannula, BiPAP/CPAP (for obstructive sleep apnea only)
  • Telemetry: Centralized monitoring; RNs must interpret EKG strips themselves
  • Drip titration: RNs are required to titrate cardiac, heparin, Lasix, bumex, and other drips
  • Charge nurse: Yes, takes no patient assignment; unit also has a manager

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Shift length: 12-hour shifts (7 AM - 7 PM)
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling available
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday requirement: 2 major holidays and 2 minor holidays depending on contract dates
  • Call/standby: No regular call; standby depends on census fluctuations
  • Floating: Required to float to any telemetry floor, including sister facilities
  • Dress code: Navy scrubs

Orientation

  • Unit-specific orientation: 2 days on the floor

  • Alcohol-related conditions (ETOH)
