Description
Job Opportunity: Mammography Technologist
Location: Salinas, California
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: Approximately 13 weeks (90 days ≈ 13 weeks)
Job Description
- Perform mammograms and bone density scans daily under approved policies and Radiation Practice Standards (ACR, MQSA).
- Assist Radiologist with needle localization, stereotactic biopsy, and galactogram after completing training and competency demonstration.
- Obtain and review patient medical history and physician orders before procedures; explain procedures to patients and complete documentation.
- Select appropriate technical factors and operate equipment following Radiation Safety Practices.
- Prepare completed mammograms and studies for interpretation promptly, ensuring proper identification and documentation.
- Perform or assist with Quality Assurance activities related to mammography and bone density, including use of Hologic Selenia and AGFA Printer.
- Report changes in patient condition to Lead Technologist or Radiologist; assist with emergency medical treatment under physician direction.
- Assist with scheduling patient exams.
- Attend department meetings and in-services regularly.
- Collaborate closely with Lead Mammography Technologist to meet MQSA standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a licensed mammography technologist preferred.
- Bone Density experience preferred.
Required Credentials & Certifications
- Current California State License – Mammographic Radiologic Technologist (CRT (R) (M))
- ARRT (R) registration and ARRT (M) Certificate (copy of original certificate required)
- BLS/Healthcare Provider certification per American Heart Association standards (AHA BLS)
- Completion of initial 40 hours of training
- Completion of 25 supervised exams
- 8 hours modality training in Tomosynthesis
- 8 hours modality training in digital mammography
- Continuing education: 15 CEUs within 36 months
- Completion of 200 mammograms within 24 months
This position requires adherence to Radiation Practice Standards, ACR, MQSA, and The Joint Commission guidelines.
