Pediatric RN - Pediatric ICU / PAC / PICU

Job Description

• Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to the Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Advanced Care, and Pediatric Med/Surg units.
• Implement procedures and theories related to pediatric nursing practice.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
• Complete initial patient assessments and develop plans of care based on patient and family needs.
• Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
• Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and patients’ families, including hourly rounding and bedside reporting.
• Collaborate with Pediatric Intensivists, Pediatric Hospitalists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomes.
• Monitor intake and output for all pediatric patients.
• Perform clinical tasks such as changing dressings, inserting catheters, starting IVs, and administering medications with proper bar code scanning.
• Notify providers of high alert lab results.
• Serve as a mandated reporter for suspected abuse or neglect cases.
• Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years relevant nursing experience.
• ASN degree required; BSN preferred.
• Illinois RN license in good standing.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association).
