Description
Respiratory Therapist Opportunity – Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Verification
- NRP & PALS preferred
Patient Population
- All ages: neonates, pediatrics, adults, geriatrics
Work Environment
- Inpatient setting covering all areas/floors
- Hospitalist or Intensivist available 24/7
- Respiratory Lead Therapist on each shift
- Traveler will not be the only RT in-house
Required Skills & Experience
- EKG interpretation
- Bedside bronchoscopy
- Bedside spirometry
Equipment Used
- Ventilators: Drager, Servo I, Carefusion (Heliox and NICU use only)
- Bipap: Vision, V60, V30, Respironics S/T
- High Flow: Airvo2
Scheduling & Shifts
- Shift hours: 7 AM – 7 PM (team scheduling)
- Weekend requirements:
- Days: every third weekend
- Nights: every other weekend
- Holiday coverage: rotate with permanent staff
- Floating: required to float to different hospital areas within RT capacity
Orientation
- 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation (12 hours each)
Additional Notes
- Strong teamwork between RTs, providers, and nursing staff
- Successful RT attributes: time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, teamwork, willingness to learn
- Fingernail policy: artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
- Driver’s license required to verify candidate location within 50-mile radius
- Candidates cannot be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
- Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals
