Description

Respiratory Therapist Opportunity – Omaha, Nebraska

Contract Length: 13 weeks


Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Verification
  • NRP & PALS preferred

Patient Population

  • All ages: neonates, pediatrics, adults, geriatrics

Work Environment

  • Inpatient setting covering all areas/floors
  • Hospitalist or Intensivist available 24/7
  • Respiratory Lead Therapist on each shift
  • Traveler will not be the only RT in-house

Required Skills & Experience

  • EKG interpretation
  • Bedside bronchoscopy
  • Bedside spirometry

Equipment Used

  • Ventilators: Drager, Servo I, Carefusion (Heliox and NICU use only)
  • Bipap: Vision, V60, V30, Respironics S/T
  • High Flow: Airvo2

Scheduling & Shifts

  • Shift hours: 7 AM – 7 PM (team scheduling)
  • Weekend requirements:
    • Days: every third weekend
    • Nights: every other weekend
  • Holiday coverage: rotate with permanent staff
  • Floating: required to float to different hospital areas within RT capacity

Orientation

  • 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation (12 hours each)

Additional Notes

  • Strong teamwork between RTs, providers, and nursing staff
  • Successful RT attributes: time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, teamwork, willingness to learn
  • Fingernail policy: artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
  • Driver’s license required to verify candidate location within 50-mile radius
  • Candidates cannot be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
  • Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals

This position offers a dynamic environment with exposure to a wide range of patient care levels and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.
