Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery (Travel)

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Specialty: RN Labor and Delivery
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years current Labor & Delivery experience
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (American Heart Association only; front and back of certificate if not electronic)
    • ACLS (AHA only; required for all RNs except Psych and True Med/Surg units)
    • NRP (AHA only)
    • Intermediate AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
  • Must have a Kentucky or compact nursing license
  • Experience with Meditech EMR system
  • Must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered
  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly
  • Work schedule: 36 hours worked / 48 hours off over a two-week pay period
  • Ratios may fluctuate based on census and call-ins

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer prior to start (if low/equivocal, proof of first dose required to start; second dose within 28-30 days)
  • Positive titer or proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination accepted
  • Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer prior to start (same dosing rules as MMR)
  • Tdap vaccination valid for 10 years (Td not accepted; declinations acceptable)
  • Annual physical or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
  • QuantiFERON TB blood test within 1 year prior to start
  • Influenza vaccine required seasonally (Sept 1 - May 31); religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation (agency or other health system exemptions not accepted)

Professional and Background Requirements

  • Nursys verification within 30 days of start
  • License/certificate verification for KY or compact license
  • ARH 20/20 Background Check (includes 7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender, SAM, OIG) within 30 days prior to start; annual updates required
  • Drug screen (ARH 20/20 panel) within 30 days prior to start; annual updates required
  • ARH Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start; annual updates required
  • Two professional references required (one charge or higher, one supervisor reference within last year)
  • Submission of ARH Submission Packet including required experience, facility, and unit information
  • Signed and dated specialty job description (annual update required)
  • Assignment confirmation must be uploaded within 24 hours of offer acceptance

Competency and Skills Testing

  • ARH Skills Checklist (unit specific, within 1 year prior to start)
  • ARH Competency Exam (unit specific, within 1 year prior to start)
  • ARH EKG Exam and Telemetry Exam (unit specific, within 1 year prior to start)
  • ARH Core Competencies (includes HIPAA, Patient Bill of Rights, Safety Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Elder Abuse and Neglect, Age Specific Care, Cultural Diversity, Advance Directives; annual update required)

Additional Notes

  • Must not submit candidate to more than one job at a time
  • Assignment start date is the date needed to start
  • Resource must confirm assignment within 24 hours of accepting offer to avoid rejection

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who meet the certification, licensure, and health requirements and are comfortable working a 36/48 schedule in a travel capacity within Kentucky.
