Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Temp Assignment

Location: Windsor, Vermont
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Med Surg position; no block scheduling allowed
  • May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse
  • Coordinate total nursing care for patients
  • Participate in patient and family teaching
  • Provide leadership working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and patient team personnel
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1 to 4/5
  • Average daily patient census: 22
  • EMR system: Cerner
  • 8-hour non-billable orientation required
  • Call-back, holiday, and overtime work required with specific holiday coverage obligations:
    • Must work two of the following holiday periods:
      • Thanksgiving and the Friday/weekend after
      • Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and the Friday/weekend after
      • New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day and the Friday/weekend after
  • No extensions ending in November or before December holidays will be considered for extension into 2026
  • Local travelers (within 50 miles) are not eligible
  • Must have own vehicle (no public transport available)

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years recent Med Surg & Rehab experience (required)
  • Charge RN experience required
  • Previous travel experience of at least 3 months required
  • BSN preferred
  • Ability to float between Acute Rehab and Med Surg units
  • Vermont RN license required (Compact license allowed)
  • Certifications required:
    • ACLS (AHA)
    • BLS (AHA)
  • Must include permanent address in profile
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at time of application; no RTO requests accepted after submission
  • Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed (less preferred)
  • Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated; call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance to unit supervisor

  • 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds
  • 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit
  • Therapeutic pool and physical therapy department
  • Services include acute care, transitional care, and hospice
  • Located in a small community with no public transportation
  • Windsor, VT offers access to outdoor recreation and is within a 3-hour drive of Boston, Montreal, and New York

Note: This is a small community setting requiring reliable transportation and flexibility with holiday and call schedules.
