Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Fort Madison, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Responsible for delivering patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members while maintaining professional nursing standards.
  • Patient populations include Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry.
  • Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to work on the telemetry/med-surg unit.
  • ACLS certification is required.
  • Set work schedule: Friday through Sunday.

Required Credentials & Compliance

Licenses & Certifications

  • Registered Nurse License: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start (BON & NURSYS for RNs).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for clinical positions (AHA or ARC accepted).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required.

Health & Immunizations

  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Sept 1 – March 31) or facility declination accepted.
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Declination accepted.
  • MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
  • Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal.
  • Tdap: Valid for 10 years; declinations accepted.
  • TB Test: Negative test within past year (TSPOT or QuantiFERON IGG). If history of positive TB, must provide documentation including chest x-ray and questionnaire.
  • Fit Test: Completed prior to start with acceptable respirators (e.g., Moldex 1510, 3M 1860s).
  • Health Statement: Physician statement within last 12 months.

Background & Screening

  • Drug Screen: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (THC not required).
  • Background Check: Within 30 days of start, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
  • Adult and Child Abuse Clearance: State requirement.
  • Education Verification: Verified through third party; diploma/transcripts may be required.
  • References: 2 professional references required, including 1 supervisor.
  • Other Screenings: EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG, SING, NSO, OFAC checks within 30 days of start.
  • I9 Attestation: Completed on agency letterhead.
  • Color Vision Test: Required.
  • OSHA Questionnaire: Candidate must complete.

Additional Requirements

  • Complete GRH Skills Checklist within 12 months (does not expire).
  • BD Screening Attestation.
  • Driver’s License or State ID (unexpired government-issued photo ID).
  • Contract Employee Data Sheet.
  • Pre-Orientation Computer-Based Learning (CBL) Acknowledgement.
  • Evergreen Link attestation for system access (to be completed within 48 hours of offer acceptance).

Summary

This is a 13-week long-term travel nursing assignment for an RN with Medical/Surgical and Telemetry experience. The role requires passing a dysrhythmia test early in the assignment, ACLS certification, and compliance with a comprehensive set of health, licensure, and background requirements. The work schedule is Friday through Sunday.
