    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (L&D RN) - Seattle, Washington

    Position Details

    • Specialty: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)

    • Contract Length: 13 weeks
    • Shift: Nights (3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts acceptable)
    • Start Date: December 15 (must start in December)
    • Patient Ratios: 1:1
    • Experience Required: Minimum 3 years labor and delivery experience
    • First-time Travelers: Accepted only if 3+ years L&D experience
    • Weekend Requirement: Yes (unless schedule states otherwise)
    • Call Requirement: None
    • Floating: Yes, within hospital only (no floating to sister hospitals)
    • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated unless otherwise stated
    • Locals Accepted: Yes
    • Pending License: Not accepted
    • Return to Orientation (RTO) Restrictions: Maximum 1 week; must work holidays

    Unit & Facility Information

    • Responsible for adult women of childbearing age
    • Unit includes: 7 labor beds, 3 triage beds, 2 PACU beds, and 16 mother-baby beds
    • Electronic Health Record System: EPIC (Epic experience required)
    • Facility Type: Magnet, Teaching Center, Level 4 Trauma Center
    • Total Staffed Beds: 281
    • Scrub Color: Any (scrubs provided for OR personnel)

    Required Certifications

    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • AWHONN Intermediate preferred (not mandatory)
    • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, EFM)

    Compliance & Documentation Requirements

    • Background Checks: 7-year criminal background check including national and state-specific searches
    • Education Verification: Required (diploma/transcript acceptable for RNs)
    • Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG (if applicable), Conscious Sedation (if applicable)
    • Health Documents:
      • Physical exam within 1 year
      • Fit mask test within 12 months (specific mask types preferred)
      • Immunizations and titers: TDAP (within 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination), Flu seasonal vaccination or exemption, COVID vaccination or declination
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
      • Drug screening (10 panel) within one year (required by agency, not facility)
    • Facility Specific:
      • Photo for badge (DMV style, no selfies)
      • Completion of EPIC/Alaris integration video and attestation
      • Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training (for L&D RNs)
      • Various agreements and checklists depending on facility location

    Additional Notes

    • Guaranteed hours may be adjusted based on census; providers may be called off or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift per two-week cycle.
    • For ambulatory or surgical areas closed on weekends/holidays, travelers may not be scheduled or guaranteed minimum hours.
    • Suicide prevention training required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington.
    • Candidates must comply with Washington state-specific licensing and background check requirements.
    • Employee Health Services available for fit testing and vaccinations.

    This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery RNs seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with strong support and clear compliance requirements.
