    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery)

    Location: Seattle, Washington
    Facility Type: Magnet, Teaching Center, Level 4 Trauma
    Facility Size: 281 staffed beds
    Charting System: EPIC
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Position Details

    • Specialty: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
    • Shift: Nights (3x12 or 4x12 shifts acceptable)
    • Start Date: December 15 (must start in December)
    • Patient Ratios: 1:1
    • Experience Required: Minimum 3 years of labor and delivery experience
    • First-Time Travelers: Accepted only if 3+ years L&D experience
    • Weekend Requirement: Yes (unless schedule states otherwise)
    • Call Requirement: None
    • Floating: Yes, within hospital only (no floating to sister hospitals)
    • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated unless specified
    • Locals Accepted: Yes
    • Pending License: Not accepted
    • Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 1 week; must work holidays

    Unit Information

    • Responsible for adult women of childbearing age
    • Unit includes:
      • 7 labor beds
      • 3 triage beds
      • 2 PACU beds
      • 16 mother-baby beds
    • Scrub Color: Any (scrubs provided for OR personnel)

    Certifications Required

    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • AWHONN Intermediate preferred
    • ACLS, PALS, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM certifications may be relevant (refer to unit job description)

    Compliance & Background Checks

    • 7-year criminal background check within 45 days of start
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
    • Sex Offender Search (NSOPW) required
    • Washington State WATCH search required
    • Education verification or diploma/transcript required for RNs
    • Physical exam required (signed within 1 year)
    • Drug screening (10 panel) required within a year of start
    • Various competency exams required (medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG, conscious sedation if applicable)

    Health Requirements

    • Fit mask test within 12 months (specific mask types preferred)
    • TDAP vaccine within last 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
    • Immunizations or titers required for:
      • Rubeola (Measles)
      • Mumps
      • Rubella
      • Varicella
      • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination required)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination required
    • COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking

    Additional Notes

    • EPIC experience is important; please disclose if candidate lacks it
    • In low census situations, providers may be called off or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift per 2-week cycle
    • For ambulatory or surgical areas closed on weekends/holidays, travelers may not be scheduled or guaranteed minimum hours
    • Candidates must complete EPIC/Alaris integration video and attestation prior to start
    • Photo for badge required (DMV style, no selfies)
    • Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training required for L&D RNs (includes quiz and registration)
    • Various facility-specific agreements and checklists must be completed prior to start
