Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Towson, Maryland
Unit: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
Shift: Nights
Hours: 36 hours every other week (EOW)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months) starting 12/15/2025, or 10 weeks starting 1/12/2026


Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Maryland RN license
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
    • NIH Stroke Certification (required for Telemetry and stroke patient care; must be updated annually)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
  • Additional Certifications (as applicable): PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE
  • References: Two supervisory references within 1 year (one must be a supervisor/manager, one can be a charge RN if directly supervised)
  • Employment History: 5-7 years verification required
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal search within 30 days of start, updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
    • Education verification
    • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start

Job Expectations

  • Weekends: Every other weekend required
  • Holidays: Required as scheduled
  • Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
  • On-Call: Not required

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
  • Fit Mask Testing: Required within 1 year prior to start (3M N95 1860, 1860S, 3M 9205+, or Technol masks)
  • Immunizations & Titers:
    • Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required by 12/2/2025 for 2025-26 season
    • Tdap required for units working with children/newborns (e.g., MotherBaby, L&D, NICU, Peds, ED)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination accepted (series not accepted)
  • TB Testing:
    • Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year, or 2-step PPD as per guidelines
    • Annual updates required
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen (including Fentanyl) within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)

Competency Exams (as applicable)

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Color Blind Testing
  • General Competency Exam
  • Age Specific Competency Exam (including CNAs)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (excluding certain roles)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • IT Confidentiality Agreement (signed within 24 hours of receipt)
  • Passport-style photo for badge
  • Medical Flu Declination (if applicable, must be signed by physician)
  • Respiratory Protection Questionnaire (must be signed by medical professional)
  • Job Description Acknowledgment (must be signed prior to start)
  • Portfolio Epic Training Test Out Form (time sensitive; may allow test out of Epic training)
  • Security ID Application (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Confidentiality Agreement and Dress Code review prior to start
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (completed by candidate and physician if applicable)
