Travel RN Opportunity - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Location: Alexandria, Louisiana

Unit Information

• Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU)
• Number of Beds: 6
• Shift Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse + 1 RN/LPN (varies with census)
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse + 1 RN/LPN (varies with census)
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2
• Equipment Used:

  • Alaris IV pump
  • Bair Hugger
  • Kangaroo Feeding Pump
  • Giraffe infant warmer
  • Ventilators
  • BiPAP
  • High Flow O2
• EMR System: Meditech/Pyxis

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Pediatric ICU Nursing
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year pediatric ICU nursing experience (highest required)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Licenses: Registered Nurse (RN) License

Preferred Experience

• Experience in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
• Experience in other women’s health areas such as labor and delivery, OB/GYN

Typical Procedures Performed

• Spinal taps
• Titration of critical drips (sedation, vasoactive, paralytic)
• Sedated MRI
• EKG/EEG/Telemetry monitoring
• Port access and discontinuation
• Intubation and extubation

• Floating Areas:

  • May float to NICU (low acuity patients) or Nursery
  • May float to OB/GYN if qualified
• Schedule:

  • Rotating weekends
  • May work a mixed schedule of days, nights, and weekends to fill scheduling needs
• Dress Code: Teal scrubs

• Must be able to work within an 80-mile radius of the facility
