Unit Profile: 4 South (Telemetry Unit)

• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Unit Staffing:

  • 2 unit secretaries (6:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily)
  • Patient care technicians available at all times; staffing fluctuates with census
• Equipment:

  • Telemetry monitors in each room and stations
  • Dynamaps for vital signs
  • Glucometers
  • iMobile phones
  • Bladder scanner
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling: 12-hour shifts (7 AM – 7 PM), every other weekend, holidays required
• Floating Policy: Nurses float to other units as needed
• Patient Experience: Hourly rounding, bedside shift report, My Care Boards, AIDET communication framework

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong nursing background with thorough assessment skills
• Ability to notice and respond to condition changes
• Positive attitude, flexibility, dependability, teamwork, self-motivation
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations
• Advanced skill: Telemetry rhythm interpretation
• Procedures performed on unit: PICC line removal, vas cath/temp cath removal
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS

• Required uniform: Ceil Blue Scrubs
