Job Opportunity: Night Med/Surg RN

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Night (1830-0700)
• Hours Guaranteed: 36 hours per week
• Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med Surg)
• Beds: 42
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 (1:6 ratio at least once a week)
• Common Patient Types: Medical, surgical, orthopedics
• Charge Nurse: Yes, present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Yes, ratio approximately 1:10-12
• Respiratory Therapist (RT): Available 24 hours on the floor
• Telemetry: Telemetry on the floor with a centralized Tele station
• Drips: No titratable drips except Heparin
• Floating Requirements: May float to PCU or Burn units
• Orientation:

  • First week: Classroom training
  • Followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs provided

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of unit experience in Med Surg
• Certifications: BLS required
• Exams: Pass/fail open book exam during orientation; must score 90% or higher to continue
• Driver’s License: Required at submission to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius
• Radius Rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
• Fingernail Policy: Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to comply results in contract termination

Scheduling & Requirements

• Shifts: 0630-1900 (day), 1830-0700 (night)
• Weekend & Holiday: As needed
• Call/Standby: None required
• Return to Office (RTO): Required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approved
