Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, flexible start and end times between 8am-7pm based on case scheduling
  • Call required: Weeknights 7pm-7am, Weekends 7am-7pm
  • Minimum experience: 2 years
  • Recent Epic experience (within last 6 months) required
  • Travel experience preferred
  • Certifications required: ACLS, ARRT R, BLS, CCI RCIS
  • Holiday requirement: Will work 2 out of 3 holidays if needed
  • No local candidates; must be willing to travel within a 50-mile radius

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT R (Radiologic Technologist)
    • CCI RCIS (Cardiovascular Credentialing International - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
    • Other certifications as applicable (PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI)
  • Competencies:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% passing score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
    • Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
    • Competency Exams as applicable to profession (minimum 80% passing score)
    • Annual Core Testing for subcontractors

Required Documents & Verifications

  • I9 form (for direct candidates)
  • Driver’s License or State ID
  • E-Verify (for direct candidates)
  • 7-year Background Check (updated annually) including:
    • SS Trace
    • County searches for last 7 years
    • Nationwide search
    • Sex Offender Registry
    • Education Verification (highest level)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
  • Fingerprinting (time sensitive for New Mexico placements only)
  • Education verification or transcript/diploma as placeholder if needed
  • Primary source online verification of state license
  • NURSYS verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP as applicable
  • Photo for badge

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required annually)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with follow-up requirements for positive results)
    • TB Questionnaire within 90 days of start (annual renewal if positive)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters if negative/equivocal
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required; boosters if negative/equivocal
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination (dose 1 and fully vaccinated) or approved medical/religious exemption required; declinations not accepted

Additional Requirements

  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
  • 7-year work history verification
  • References:
    • 2 professional references for travel, allied, per diem acute care
    • 1 professional reference for per diem non-acute care (within 2 years of start)

This position requires flexibility, relevant certifications, and compliance with comprehensive health and background screening protocols.
