Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Salem, Oregon
Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)


Position Details

  • Start Date: January 5th or later only
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (1900-0730) with 36 or 48 hour options
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Unit: Cardiovascular Care Unit (CVCU) - blended unit with 18 CVICU beds and 12 CVIMCU beds
  • Floating: Between CVCU/ICU/PCU units regularly
  • Patient Population: Patients 16 years and older with primary cardiac diagnoses including heart failure, post-cardiac arrest, cardiothoracic surgery (CABG, valve repair/replacement, VATS/thoracotomy), IABP therapy, Impella insertion, post PCI, pacemaker insertion, ablation, arrhythmia, STEMI/NSTEMI, EKOS
  • Environment: Specialty cardiac unit with a multidisciplinary team focused on cardiac intensive care, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and thoracic/vascular patients

Required Qualifications

  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Skills: Telemetry required

  • CCRN certification (Cardiac Certified Registered Nurse)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Licensure: Valid RN license with NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
  • Background Checks: Criminal background check within 90 days, EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days and ongoing
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask testing onsite within first week of start (for starts after 1/27/25)
    • Immunizations and titers including Tdap, TB screening, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccine or declination
    • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Competency Exams:
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with passing score of 85% required
    • Core Part I, II, III competency exams required prior to start and annually updated
  • References: Two references within last 2 years, including one supervisory reference within last 12 months
  • Photo for Badge: White background photo required at least 8 days prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Telemetry skills are mandatory for all RNs regardless of unit
  • Advanced certifications and specialty training are encouraged and supported
  • Floating between CVICU, ICU, and PCU units is a constant expectation
  • The unit emphasizes growth, mentoring, and excellence in cardiovascular nursing care
