Job Opportunity: Surgical Technologist (Contract)

Location: Herrin, Illinois

Work Schedule

• 0800 to 1830, 4 days a week
• Rotating day off throughout the week
• 1 weeknight and 2 weekend days per month for call requirements

Role Responsibilities

• Assist in transportation and positioning of patients
• Assemble and dismantle tables and instruments before and after procedures
• Prepare patient and room for surgical procedures
• Open sterile supplies and set up for procedures
• Complete skin preparation and draping
• Assist surgeon with gowning, gloving, passing instruments, and sutures
• Maintain correct count of instruments, sutures, and sponges
• Apply dressings and bandages as needed
• Identify, collect, and care for specimens
• Decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to policies
• Handle and store instruments, equipment, and supplies appropriately
• Aid in efficient turnover of the operating room for subsequent cases
• Monitor and restock supplies

Education & Certification

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Non-Certified candidates: Graduate of an OR technician program accredited through ARC/STSA, or on-the-job/military training with documented evidence
• Certified candidates: Must have passed the Certified Surgical Technologist exam through NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 6 months of technical experience or specialized training for non-certified or on-the-job/military trained candidates

Additional Information

• BLS/BCLS certification required
• Position requires technical proficiency and ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
