Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Facility: 23 Bed Emergency Room in a large hospital setting
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
- Employment Type: Travel
- Contract Length: 12 weeks (interpreted as 12 weeks)
- Schedule: 36 hours on / 48 hours off over a two-week pay period
- Start Date: Immediate (start date needed upon assignment)
- Residency Requirement: Must reside within 100 miles of the facility
- Transportation: Reliable transportation required due to limited ride-share options
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of current RN experience required
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Experience in a large hospital setting required
- Must have worked in an Emergency Room setting
- Must provide a signed and dated specialty job description
- Two professional references required (one charge nurse or higher, one supervisor)
Certifications & Licenses (Required)
- BLS (American Heart Association card, front and back if not electronic)
- ACLS (American Heart Association card, front and back if not electronic)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIH Certification (required for RN specialties except OR)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute Blue Card only)
- Valid nursing license for Kentucky or compact license valid in Kentucky
- Nursys verification within 30 days of start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose started with second dose within 28-30 days)
- Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal, October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption
- Annual physical or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
- Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose started with second dose within 28-30 days)
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (Td not accepted; declinations accepted)
- TB Quantiferon blood test within 1 year prior to start (annual update required)
- If positive TB record, proof of chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire
- ARH Employee Health Attestation Form completion required prior to start
Background & Compliance
- Background checks within 30 days prior to start including:
- 7-year county criminal history
- Nationwide criminal check
- SSN trace
- National sex offender registry
- SAM, OIG, EPLS, OFAC checks
- Education and employment verification
- Driving record
- Drug screen (ARH 20/20 panel) within 30 days of start, annual update required
- Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start
- Submission packet required with cover page, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, license/certification verification in one PDF
Skills & Competency Testing
- Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year prior to start, renewed annually
- Competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher within 1 year prior to start
- EKG and telemetry exam with passing score of 80% or higher within 1 year prior to start
- Annual core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives, etc.
Additional Notes
- Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance
- Candidates should not be submitted to more than one job at a time
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly unless otherwise noted
