Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Neuro Unit)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must have neuro experience; candidates without neuro experience will not be considered.
- Required experience in neuro, trauma, ortho, and robotics.
- Schedule options:
- 4 shifts of 10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- 3 shifts of 12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- No guaranteed block scheduling; blocked schedules are not approved.
- Call requirements:
- 1-2 calls per week (Monday-Thursday) starting after shift until 7:00 AM next day.
- 30-minute callback response time.
- 2 weekend call shifts every 6 weeks (call starts end of shift Friday through 7:00 AM Monday).
- No scheduled weekend shifts, call only.
- Must work 1 of 2 major upcoming holidays; holidays are call only based on department needs.
- Floating is not applicable.
- Could care for COVID patients.
- Facility is tobacco and fragrance free.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
- First-time travelers are not accepted.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- EPIC experience required.
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) allowed: 7 days.
Screening & Hiring Process
- Candidates will be pre-screened by clinical staff for fit.
- Manager interview required for final decision.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start.
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start.
- PA FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; can start with results pending if on file within 45 days.
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start; must be finalized prior to start.
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 5 years; can start with results pending if on file within 45 days.
Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable.
- BLS required.
- PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable.
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for all RNs except OR and Home Health.
Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT.
- Immunizations/vaccinations or positive titers required for:
- Hepatitis B (full series or positive titer plus declination if applicable)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 doses or positive titers with boosters as needed
- Varicella - 2 doses or positive titer with boosters as needed
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days; PPD not accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccination or valid medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season.
- COVID-19 vaccination, medical/religious exemption, or declination accepted.
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year (Aya requirement only).
- Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year, renewed annually.
Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency as applicable.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail) required for all RNs except OR and Home Health.
Facility Specific Documents:
- Professional photo for badge (passport-style, professional attire, solid background).
- Review and sign facility policies including Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Commitment to Health & Wellness, Non-Employee Affidavit, and others.
- Completion of online Learning Management System (LMS) modules prior to start.
- New hire orientation required by end of first day.
References & History:
- Two professional references within 3 years required.
- Most recent resume/application required.
- Annual skills checklist required.
- Performance evaluations completed onsite during assignment.
Additional Notes
- This is a tobacco and fragrance-free facility; travelers must be notified prior to submission.
- No first-time travelers accepted.
- Candidate must be able to respond to call within 30 minutes.
- No weekend shifts scheduled, only weekend call shifts every 6 weeks.
- Holidays require call coverage only, based on department needs.
This position is ideal for experienced neuro nurses comfortable with trauma, ortho, and robotics, who have prior travel nursing experience and meet the detailed compliance and certification requirements.
