Experience and Certification Requirements

• Prior Travel Experience: Required
• Minimum Clinical Experience: 2 years
• Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year in ICU or critical care
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Preferred Certification: PALS (can be offered if not currently held)

Staffing and Orientation

• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Ancillary Assistance (CNA/PCT): No
• Unit Clerk/Secretary: No
• Staff per Shift: 2 nurses
• Advanced Practice Providers on Unit: No
• Orientation: 2 to 3 days

Patient Care and Environment

• Patient Care Modality: Team and primary nursing
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs
• Shoes: Clean, closed toe and heel
• Jewelry: Minimal, no dangling earrings or necklaces
• Hair/Beard: Neat, clean, tied back
• Nail Polish: No artificial or acrylic nails

Systems and Equipment

• Documentation System: Epic
• Medication System: Epic and Pyxis
• Special Equipment: IV drips, IV pumps, ventilators, cardiac monitors, blood transfusions
• Respiratory Support: Available 24/7
• Anesthesia Support: Available 24/7 (on call)
• Ventilator Management: Respiratory Therapy team

Job Duties and Procedures

• Circulate/Scrub: Not applicable
• Unit Specific Procedures: Drips, infusions, phlebotomy, starting IVs, performing EKGs, transports, weaning, nebulizer to inhaler
• Discontinuing Sheaths: Not performed by nursing staff

Scheduling and Shifts

• Shift Hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Rotation: No day shift rotation
• Floating: Yes, most likely to Med-Surg units
• Charge Nurse: Not required
• Self-Scheduling: No
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Call Requirements: None
• Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday

Patient Population

• Diagnoses: Intermediate/Critical Care patients and Med-Surg overflow
• Common Conditions: Respiratory, cardiac, sepsis, COVID-19, diabetic patients
• Age Range: Adult, geriatric, and occasionally pediatric patients

This position is ideal for an experienced ICU RN with travel experience who is comfortable working night shifts in a small community hospital ICU setting with a focus on critical and intermediate care patients.
