OR Tech Position - Dickinson, North Dakota

Job Details

  • Specialty: Operating Room Technician
  • Location: Dickinson, ND
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Department: Operating Room (Tech)
  • Number of OR Suites: 6 ORs, 1 GI suite

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ND UAP (North Dakota Unlicensed Assistive Personnel)
  • CST or NCCT preferred
  • Note: North Dakota does not recognize military education as a substitute for state requirements.

Job Requirements & Skills

  • No clinical involvement
  • Must be familiar with total joint replacements and cesarean sections
  • Experience with MAKO robot and orthopedic cases is a plus
  • Common cases include:
    • Orthopedic: Total joints, ORIF, Arthroscopy
    • OB/GYN: Cesarean Section, LAVH, D&C, Diagnostic laparoscopy
    • General Surgery: Laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, exploratory laparotomy
  • Use of equipment such as C-arm, MAKO robot, Ligasure, Harmonic scalpel

Work Schedule

  • 9-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday
  • Shift times: 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Team/self-scheduling available

Call and On-Call Requirements

  • 1-2 call shifts per week (end of shift until 7:00 AM next day)
  • 1 weekend on call per month (7:00 AM Friday to 7:00 AM Monday)
  • Holiday on-call required

Orientation & Training

  • 1-2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation
  • Typically no floating unless prior training in other areas

Additional Information

  • Facial hair policy: Must pass fit testing for respirators; facial hair may require removal to pass fit test or contract may be canceled
  • Scrub color and dress code provided
  • No manager or charge nurse on each shift; charge nurse does not take assignments
  • Radius rule: Must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity)
  • Return to office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals after submission
