Travel RN Opportunity - Emergency Department (FSED)

Location: McAllen, Texas
Unit: Mission FSED

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 11
• Number of Staff: 3 per shift
• Shift Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 3 RNs
  • Night Shift: 3 RNs
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Equipment: Trauma, Point of Care (POC) lab, precipitous delivery
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Job Requirements

Must Have Skills

• More than 2 years of FSED/ED experience
• Proficiency with difficult IV sticks, large bore IVs, blood cultures, triage, and patient monitoring

Preferred Skills

• More than 2 years of ED/FSED experience
• Ability to work with minimal oversight

Typical Procedures

• Point of Care (POC) lab testing
• Emergency response procedures

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)

Work Environment & Culture

• Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
• Floating Areas: FSEDs/ED
• Unit Guidelines: Emergency protocols including code blue, stroke, STEMI, sepsis
• Personality Fit: Flexible, good teamwork skills
• Schedule: Every other weekend required

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Licensure

• Must hold a valid Registered Nurse License in Texas
