Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position - Columbus, Ohio

Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Location: Columbus, Ohio
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7 PM - 7:30 AM), totaling 36 hours per week
  • No Return to Office (RTO): From 2/15/26 through 2/28/26

Experience & Skills Required

  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
  • Proficient in IV start and L&D skills
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • May be required to float to other units

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) or AWHONN certification (NCC C-EFM acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Advanced)
  • Certifications must be AHA approved (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable; letter of completion not accepted)
  • Ability to renew certifications onsite if needed

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
  • Unit-specific competency exams
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required annually (with remediation process if failed)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Monthly monitoring of EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG databases
  • Education accreditation verification from accredited nursing programs (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, CASN)
  • Transcript or diploma verification required
  • Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
  • Subcontractors must complete additional background acknowledgements and fingerprint proof

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series (declination accepted)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions reviewed
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and acknowledgment required
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually

References & Documentation

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application required, including education details for nursing candidates
  • Skills checklist required

This position is ideal for experienced L&D RNs with travel nursing background who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
