Job Opportunity: RN Telemetry I (Travel)

Location: Waco, Texas

Job Description

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
  • Coordinate all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Follow physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with healthcare team members.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Specialty exam demonstrating competency in Telemetry nursing (minimum 80% passing score)
  • Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
  • Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score, updated yearly
  • NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
  • EKG Exam with passing score of at least 80% (updated as per latest edition)

Required Health & Immunization Documentation

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted but mask required
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Fit Test: Required annually, preferred prior to start
  • TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start and updated annually

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

  • Ascension Specialty Exam, Core Competencies, EKG Exam, Skills Checklist, Epic Test-Out, and other facility-specific checklists
  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (updated annually)
  • Employment and Education Verification (within 90 days of start, updated annually)
  • Driver’s License/State ID (must be current and valid)
  • Professional references (at least two) prior to first assignment
  • Various onboarding education attestations and contract worker onboarding completed prior to or at start

Additional Notes

  • Flu season mask policy applies for exemptions/declinations.
  • Must be able to work independently and handle stressful situations.
  • All certifications and verifications must be current and compliant with facility and regulatory standards.
