Registered Nurse - Med-Surg Unit (Adult Geriatrics & Pediatrics)

Location: Fort Defiance, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a 20-bed medical-surgical unit serving both adult geriatrics and pediatric patients.
• Staffing Ratios:

  • Non-COVID patients: typically 4:1, max 5:1
  • COVID patients: typically 2:1, max 3:1
• May assist with Flu Immunization clinics as needed.
• Expected to attend staff meetings.
• Occasionally float to other qualified departments, either taking patient loads or performing task-oriented duties (e.g., answering call lights, phones).

Shift Details

• 12-hour shifts
• Shift assignment may vary; flexibility required to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Required Experience & Certifications

• Minimum 3 years med-surg nursing experience.
• At least 1 year pediatric nursing experience.
• Must be comfortable working with both adult and pediatric patients.
• Certifications required:

  • American Heart Association BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS

Orientation

• Orientation sessions held on Mondays only.
• Missing compliance deadlines will delay orientation to the following Monday.
