Description

Nursing Opportunity - Bethel, Alaska

Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Summary

  • Oversee delivery of patient care through nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in a Family Medicine Clinic.
  • Direct and coordinate nursing care based on nursing practice standards.
  • Manage immediate personnel on unit and perform some managerial responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with other RN Charges to drive clinic best practices and coordinate patient and process flows.
  • Work with healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care for best patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a resource person as needed.
  • Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care.
  • Responsible for care of patients from birth to elderly.

Qualifications

Education

  • Completed nursing education program from an NLN-approved institution.
  • BSN preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years charge nurse experience in a Clinic or Urgent Care setting.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in good standing in the State of Alaska.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Must pass and maintain competencies for the position.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to practice nursing according to Alaska state regulations.
  • Cognitive and technical knowledge to manage care across the continuum.
  • Flexibility with work schedule and ability to act independently within prescribed limits.
  • Skilled in nursing process application, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, and patient/family education.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to work effectively in patient care settings.
  • Strong language skills: reading, analyzing, interpreting professional journals, procedures, and regulations; documenting care delivery; presenting information clearly.
  • Mathematical skills: basic arithmetic, computing rates, ratios, percentages, interpreting graphs, and data entry.
  • Reasoning ability: problem-solving and interpreting instructions in various formats.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise unit secretaries, PCTs, CMAs, LPNs, and RNs in collaboration with the Director.
  • Assist with resume review and acquisition of agency or traveling nursing staff.

Additional Information

  • All travelers are required to show proof of completed COVID-19 vaccinations.
