Job Details

  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
  • Scheduling: Blocked schedules cannot be accommodated
  • Contract Length: 25 weeks

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association only)
  • PALS (American Heart Association only)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association only)
  • Valid permanent RN license (no temporary licenses accepted) with primary source verification within 30 days of start and updated every 2 years
  • NIHSS Certification
  • Ohio Fingerprints (BCI&I check) and FCRA-compliant National Database Criminal background check (requirements vary based on length of Ohio residency)
  • UHS I-9 Attestation (proof of eligibility to work)
  • UHS Education Verification (highest level of education verified through third-party)
  • UHS Employment Verification (verification of employment within last 5 years)
  • UHS Criminal Background Check (within 6 months prior to start)
  • UHS OIG Search (initial hire only)
  • UHS SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Screening (initial hire only)
  • UHS Drug Screen (10-panel, within 60 days of start)
  • UHS Module Completion Certificate (safety and compliance training, annual renewal)

Required Health & Immunization Credentials

  • COVID-19 Vaccine (proof or approved exemption preferred but not required)
  • MMR (positive titers within last 15 years; booster protocol if low titer)
  • Varicella (positive titers within last 15 years; booster protocol if low titer)
  • Hepatitis B (proof of full series, partial series with declination, or positive titers within 15 years)
  • Tdap vaccination within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza Vaccine (required October-March; declination requires mask and specific forms)
  • 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within last 6 months (annual requirement)
  • Positive PPD requires clear chest x-ray (valid for 5 years) and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit Test (completed within 1 year of start)
  • Physical/Health Statement (pre-employment physical exam within 1 year, must state ability to work without restrictions)

Additional Requirements

  • UHS Skills Checklist (clinical skill-specific checklist, completed within 1 year prior to start)
  • UHS Competency Exam (minimum 80% score, completed within 1 year prior to start)
  • UHS Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; 80% passing score, completed within 1 year prior to start)
  • UHS Submission Packet (resume, 2 professional references within last 2 years, job application, and UH employment history form)
  • UHS Badge Photo (headshot, shoulders up, plain background, JPEG format)
  • Driver’s License or State ID (non-expired)
