CVOR Nurse Opportunity - Kearney, Nebraska

Position Overview

  • Experienced CVOR nurse needed for a hospital in Central Nebraska.
  • Responsibilities include circulating; scrubbing is a plus but not required.
  • Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Call required: 10-15 days per month, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Call response time: 15 minutes.
  • Work on a CVOR team embedded in the general OR; when not on cardiovascular cases, will assist with general, ortho, urology, and ENT cases.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks.

Unit Details

  • Unit: CVOR
  • Number of suites: 11
  • Average cases per day: 18
  • Common cases: CABG, vascular, lung surgeries
  • Manager and charge nurse present daily; charge nurse does not take patient assignments.
  • OR techs available.
  • EMR system: Epic.

Scheduling

  • 8- or 10-hour shifts starting at 7:00 AM.
  • Same schedule week to week.
  • Call schedule is somewhat self-scheduled.
  • No floating required; will work general OR when not on CV cases.

Certifications & Requirements

  • Required: BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Must pass a 90% score on an open book RN exam during orientation (one week orientation).
  • Driver’s license required to verify candidate is within a 50-mile radius.
  • Candidates cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity).
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply results in contract termination.

  • Scrubs are provided.
  • Fingernail policy strictly enforced.
  • Orientation includes one week of unit/department-specific training.
  • Embedded in general OR team for non-CV cases.
