Job Opportunity: RN Medical / Surgical / Telemetry
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Must have 2+ years of recent RN experience.
- Nursing degree from an accredited program (ACEN or CCNE accredited).
- ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA only, AHA RQI acceptable).
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
- Float pool required.
- EPIC experience within the last 12 months (must be on resume).
- Resume Time Off (RTO) allowed up to 7 days maximum; no block schedule requests.
- Solid black scrubs required.
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (AHA only) – Required for submission.
- ACLS (AHA only) – Required for submission.
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification – Required prior to onboarding.
- Nursys License Verification – Required within 30 days of start.
- License/Certificate Verification – Primary source verification within 30 days of start.
- Driver’s License/State ID – Valid government-issued photo ID required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Fit Test – Required for all patient-facing roles; must be current within 1 year.
- Health Statement/Physical – Pre-employment physical within 1 year confirming ability to perform job functions.
- COVID-19 Vaccine – Fully vaccinated required; medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case.
- MMR – Titer or 2 adult vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B – Titer or complete vaccine series required; signed declinations accepted.
- Influenza Vaccine – Required October-April; medical or religious exemptions require approval.
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) – Negative results required; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella – Titer or 2 adult vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap – Recommended within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Annual TB Questionnaire – Must be completed, signed, and dated on facility form.
- Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray – If applicable, chest x-ray within 1 year required.
Testing & Competency Exams
- Summa Competency Exam – Unit-specific clinical competency exam required annually.
- Summa Skills Checklist – Unit-specific skills checklist required annually.
- Summa EKG and Telemetry Exams – Passing score (80%+) required annually.
- Summa Core Competencies – Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; updated annually.
- Summa Pharmacology Exam – Optional.
Background & Screening
- Drug Screen – Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; updated annually.
- Criminal Background Check – FCRA compliant 7-year search plus SSN trace and nationwide checks; must be run within 90 days of start.
- OIG Search – Must be run within 90 days of start.
- EPLS Search – Must be run within 90 days of start.
- Education Verification – Third-party verification required.
- Social Security Card – Must provide valid Social Security card or number.
Additional Notes
- Must submit a completed RN Submission Packet checklist with signatures from candidate and agency.
- Agencies must complete a Work Order Confirmation upon offer acceptance.
- All certifications, licenses, and screenings must be current and updated annually or with any break in service of 30 days or more.
This position requires a highly qualified RN with recent experience, specific certifications, and compliance with detailed health and background screening protocols.
