Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Travel)

Location: Hinton, West Virginia

Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Description

  • Minimum 2+ years of current Respiratory Therapist experience in an acute care setting
  • Must hold current West Virginia license & registration/certification
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
  • Patient ratio currently 1.1-1.2
  • Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
  • Schedule: 36/48 hours per two-week pay period (typical schedule unless otherwise noted)
  • Orientation offered bi-weekly
  • Start date aligned with job start date needed
  • Candidates must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered

Required Credentials & Compliance

Certifications

  • BLS: American Heart Association (AHA) front and back of certificate required if not electronic
  • ACLS: AHA front and back of certificate required
  • WV License/Certificate Verification: Must be current and valid for West Virginia or compact state license

Personal Health History

  • MMR: Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer required prior to start; if starting series, first dose required at start and second dose within 28-30 days
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, proof of 3 vaccine series, or declination accepted
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required October-March; must be administered on or after August 1; medical or religious accommodations require approval prior to start
  • Health Statement: Annual physical or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
  • Varicella: Proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer required; similar rules as MMR for series initiation
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; declinations accepted
  • TB Quantiferon: Blood test within 1 year prior to start required
  • Positive PPD: If applicable, requires chest X-ray within last 5 years and TB questionnaire

Professional Requirements

  • ARH Submission Packet: Includes cover sheet, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF
  • References: 2 professional references required; one must be a charge nurse or higher, one must be a supervisor reference within the last year
  • Background Check: ARH 20/20 Background Package required within 30 days prior to start, including county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender, SAM, OIG checks; annual updates required
  • Drug Screen: ARH 20/20 Drug Screen within 30 days of start; excludes marijuana/THC
  • West Virginia APS/CPS Check: Required for all clinical/allied specialties in WV ARH facilities; 2-4 week turnaround
  • ARH Job Description: Signed and dated specialty job description required annually
  • ARH Assignment Confirmation: Must be uploaded within 24 hours of offer acceptance

Skills and Competency

  • ARH Skills Checklist: Unit-specific, within one year prior to start; annual update required
  • ARH Competency Exam: Exam specific to scope of practice within one year prior to start; actual documents required (no certificates)
  • ARH Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Patient Bill of Rights, Safety Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Elder Abuse and Neglect, Age Specific Care, Cultural Diversity, Advance Directives; annual update required

Additional Compliance

  • ARH Employee Health Attestation Form: Must be completed prior to compliance deadline; includes flu vaccine upload, exemptions, TB consent, OSHA evaluation; candidate and agency signatures required

Notes

  • Ratios and schedules may fluctuate based on census and call-ins
  • Assignment confirmation must be loaded within 24 hours of accepting the offer
  • Candidates should not be submitted to more than one job at a time
