Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician

Location: Newton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Shift: 36 hours per week, rotating 3x12-hour shifts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Key Requirements

• Certification:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required (NBSTSA or NCCT only)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for onboarding (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted; AHA preferred)

• Licensure:

  • Primary source verification of professional license/certification required within 30 days of start date
  • Massachusetts Conditional Licenses not accepted

• Health and Immunizations:

  • N95 Fit Test within 365 days of start date, updated annually (no religious exemptions)
  • Documentation of MMR immunity (two measles, two mumps, one rubella vaccine or two MMR vaccines) or proof of immunity via blood test
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions allowed
  • TB test documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test), updated if >6 month break
  • Physician health statement within 365 days of start date, updated if >6 month break
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity strongly preferred (optional)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred (optional)
  • Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray documentation (optional)

• Background and Professional Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, updated if >6 month break
  • Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start, updated if >6 month break
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start and annually
  • Social Security Number trace as part of criminal background check
  • Education verification of highest level achieved
  • References: 2 recent references required, at least 1 supervisor or above in skillset

• Documentation and Testing:

  • Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
  • Skills checklist required
  • Candidate submission coversheet required
  • Self-study orientation and attestation specific to the facility required
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is required

Summary

This is a 13-week long-term assignment for a Certified Surgical Technician working 36 hours per week on rotating 12-hour shifts. Candidates must hold a current CST certification and meet all licensure, health, immunization, and background check requirements. Compliance with facility-specific orientation and documentation is mandatory prior to onboarding.
