LDRP RN Position - Little Falls, Minnesota
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Experience Requirements
- Must have experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D), Medsurg, and Pediatrics
- Critical access experience preferred
- Previous travel experience not required
Unit Details
- Labor & Delivery Beds: 4
- Postpartum Beds: 6
- Separate triage beds: Yes, 1
- C-sections performed in the OR
- Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:1 during induction
- 1:2 postpartum
Patient Population / Common Diagnoses
- Labor and Delivery
- Postpartum care
- Hyperbilirubinemia
- Preterm labor
- Triage
Clinical Responsibilities
- RNs required to titrate drips (e.g., Pitocin, cardiac drips, Heparin, sedation drugs)
- RNs monitor telemetry and read their own strips; ICU and charge nurses assist as needed
- Respiratory therapy equipment available (Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, Airvo)
- RT available on call 24/7; RNs troubleshoot but do not manage RT equipment directly
- Charge nurse present on each shift, typically does not take patient assignment unless necessary
- Neonatologist and anesthesia on call, not in-house 24/7
Staffing and Support
- 1 nurse aide on duty from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
- Telemetry monitors: Phillips
- EFM system: GE
- Tele/Monitor tech duties shared between RNs and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)
Scheduling and Shifts
- Shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Shifts rotate every 3 weeks (day/night)
- Weekend requirement: every third weekend (straight weekend positions available)
- Holiday requirement: every third holiday
- Call/standby requirement with 1-hour response time
- Floating required to Med Surg/Peds when OB census is low
Orientation
- Unit-specific orientation: 1 twelve-hour shift
Additional Information
- No dress code; any scrub color allowed
- Attributes for success: strong communication, motivation, approachability
- Radius rule: candidates must live within 50 miles and not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated facilities in the past year
- Return to office (RTO) needed upfront; no additional RTO approved after submission
