OR Tech Position - Dickinson, North Dakota

Job Details

Certifications & Requirements

• Required Certifications: BLS and North Dakota UAP
• Preferred Certifications: CST or NCCT
• Note: North Dakota does not recognize military education as a substitute for state requirements.
• Clinical Involvement: None
• Fit Testing / Facial Hair Policy:

  • Clinicians with facial hair must pass a fit test (3M Aura 1860 sm or reg/3M 1870+).
  • If unable to pass, a Portacount test is required but cannot be done on-site for those with facial hair.
  • PAPR cannot be used on-site due to facial hair issues.
  • Contract will be canceled if facial hair cannot be removed.

Experience & Skills

• Familiarity with total joint replacements and C-sections required.
• Experience with MAKO robot is a plus.
• Orthopedic experience preferred.

Common Cases

• Adult, Pediatric, Geriatric, Obstetric patients
• Orthopedic: Total joints, ORIF, Arthroscopy
• OB/GYN: Cesarean Section, LAVH, D&C, Diagnostic Laparoscopy
• General Surgery: Laparoscopic Appendectomy, Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, Exploratory Laparotomy
• Equipment: C-arm, MAKO robot, Ligasure, Harmonic Scalpel

Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift Length: 9-hour shifts
• Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 0600-1530 or 0700-1630 (subject to change)
• Scheduling Type: Team/self-scheduling
• Call Requirements:

  • 1-2 call shifts per week (end of shift until 0700 next day)
  • 1 weekend per month (0700 Friday to 0700 Monday)
  • Holiday on-call required
• Floating: Typically no floating unless prior training in other areas

Orientation & Supervision

• Orientation: 1-2 unit/department-specific shifts
• No manager or charge nurse on each shift; charge nurse does not take assignments

Additional Information

• Scrub color and dress code provided
• Radius Rule: Must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity)
• Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals after submission
