Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (SICU RN)
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: SICU Registered Nurse
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 AM - 7 PM), with holiday rotation
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Required to float within scope to like units/sister facilities; agency staff floats first
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year (preferably 2 years)
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted
- Licensure: South Carolina RN license or Compact license required prior to start
- Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Certification
- Special Experience Required: Cardiac and Neuro experience

Required Documentation & Compliance
Licensure & Certifications
- SC RN license or Compact license (primary source verification required)
- ACLS (AHA or ARC only; RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA or ARC only)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Other certifications as applicable (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) depending on unit requirements
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Certifications must not expire within 30 days of start date
Background Checks
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Includes SSN Trace, SC Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, and international searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers check
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Initial physical exam, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Respirator medical clearance annually for patient-facing staff
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of orientation modules (approx. 4 hours for Florence) prior to start
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge
- Signed assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, HR policy manual, systems user agreement, user access request, and job description prior to start
- Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Work history verification not required for this facility
- Radiation badge required only for specific departments (not required for SICU)
Additional Notes
- Travelers must upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into the facility’s platform prior to start
- Facility may send first day instructions and login information for required modules after clearance
- Agency staff expected to comply with all facility policies and documentation requirements
This position is ideal for experienced SICU RNs with cardiac and neuro skills, who hold the appropriate South Carolina licensure and certifications, and are comfortable with floating and working a 3x12 day shift schedule with weekend and holiday rotations.
