Registered Nurse (PICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Weekends: Rotating
Call: No
Floating: Yes, may float to Pediatrics and NICU if census is low

Requirements

• License: Louisiana State RN license or Compact RN license required
• Experience: 2 years preferred
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Special Skills: Experienced PICU RN
• EMR System: Allscripts/Paragon
• First-time travelers accepted
• Locals accepted

Background Check

• 7-year criminal background check within a year of start, updated annually
• Must include all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Includes Social Security trace, county and nationwide checks, sex offender registry, and FACIS level 3
• Instant state searches acceptable while county checks are pending
• International searches not required

Competencies and Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all RNs)
• Competency Exam (required for all clinical candidates)
• Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (required for PICU)

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Initial physical exam, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 30 days of start date; chest X-ray if past positive
• TB Questionnaire (must be updated annually)
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination required (fully vaccinated with doses as applicable) or approved medical/religious exemption
