Description
Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Specialty: Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit RN
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, nights 7p-7a, weekdays and some weekends
Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, may flex to 1:5 in emergencies
Possible Extension: Yes
Job Requirements
- Experience:
- 1.5-2+ years nursing experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in MS/Telemetry and 2 years in Stepdown
- Must be able to read cardiac strips
- Skills Required:
- IV start
- Telemetry monitoring
- Certifications Required:
- BCLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Travel Experience: Not required
- Blocked Schedules: Only weekend blocks considered (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon)
- Scrubs: Not provided; colors allowed are burgundy and/or white
- EMR System: Cerner
Unit Information
- The Stepdown Unit includes patients that would be considered Progressive Care or Telemetry patients in larger facilities.
- Patient acuity will vary.
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Candidate profile including work history
- Specialty-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
- Minimum 2 clinical/manager references within past 2 years
- RN license verification (recently pulled)
- All required certifications must be on file prior to start; no pending certifications allowed
- Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Education verification
- Physical exam (initial and updated annually)
- Drug testing (10 panel within 30 days of start, updated annually)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD within 12 months or Qgold/Tspot within 2 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations (within 2 years)
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella titer or vaccination (within 2 years)
- Seasonal vaccinations:
- Flu vaccine or agency-approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 13 - Apr 30)
- COVID vaccine or declination required
- Stroke education: 8 CEU hours annually (stroke-related continuing education required for certain units)
- Color blind testing and competency exams as applicable
- Facility-specific documents including badge photo, background drug screen consent, non-disclosure agreements, parking pass, and care learning modules
- Cerner EMR training modules must be completed prior to orientation
- ReadySet (RS) health assessment surveys must be completed by facility deadlines
Additional Notes
- Holiday requests for time off should be limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays.
- Point of Care Technician application required for Cath Lab RNs (not applicable here unless assigned).
- Candidate must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and training requirements prior to start.
