Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: January 5th or later
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in MS/Tele or Intermediate Care (IMC)
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (not greater than every other)
- Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:4-6
- CNA: 1:6-13 on days, 1:10-13 on nights
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
- Float Requirements: Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including to West Valley Hospital
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending License Accepted: Yes (Emergency license accepted)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Any time off over 2 weeks requires approval

Required Certifications & Skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA (American Heart Association)
- Management of telemetry and interpretation of cardiac rhythms
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Oxygen protocol and non-invasive airway management
- Peripheral line care/management
- Isolation precautions and PPE use
- Experience with cardiac drips (nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone)
- Rapid response team activation
- Computerized documentation proficiency
Experience & Competencies
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience (within last 3 years) in MS/Tele/PCU
- Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit
- No first-time travelers accepted
Work Environment
- Float Pool Team supports all adult inpatient units including Emergency Department, Psychiatric Medical Center, ICU, inpatient rehabilitation, vascular access, and adult care units
- Support includes sister hospital (West Valley Hospital)
Hours & Scheduling
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week under 8, 10, or 12-hour shift rules
- Client may cancel shifts as follows:
- 1 shift per 4-week assignment
- 2 shifts per 8-week assignment
- 3 shifts per 13-week assignment
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Clear copy of Driver’s License or State ID (passport accepted if no license)
- Criminal background check within 90 days (7-year search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
- Education verification (required for non-licensed providers)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or vaccines
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella titer or vaccination or declination
- Flu vaccine or signed declination (year-round)
- Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within first week of start
- Badge photo with white background required at least 8 days prior to start
- Competency exams including dysrhythmia/EKG interpretation (passing score 85%)
- Core clinical competencies (Parts I, II, III) required prior to start and annually updated
Additional Notes
- Emergency license holders can submit without Oregon permanent license
- Candidates must sign job description prior to start
- Background checks and education verifications may be pending at start but must be completed timely
- Candidates must be flexible to float within adult inpatient units as needed
This position is ideal for experienced MS/Tele RNs looking for a travel contract in a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with a strong telemetry focus and supportive float pool environment.
