Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Johnson City, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Medicine
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule:
- 36/36 or 36/48 hour shifts
- Rotating weekends and holidays
- No on-call required
- Floating required (1:7 MS ratios when floated)
- Orientation:
- General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation included
- Shift Flexibility:
- Hospital may cancel one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional overtime shifts available and may be flexed as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Accepts first-time travelers
- Certifications:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Traveler’s permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the hospital’s service area
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care in cardiovascular medicine specialty
- Participate actively in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical duties
Certifications & Competencies
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted)
- BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted)
- NIH Stroke Certification (verify if required/preferred)
- State License Primary Source Verification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- Preferred/As Applicable:
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – required for ER, can be pending at start
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – highly preferred for ER
- National Certification/Verification for Surgical Techs (if applicable)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- General Competency Exam
Background Checks & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check required within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed/certified in TN or working in TN
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (must meet specific standards; completed within 48 hours of contract signing)
- Staff info form (time sensitive; completed within 24 hours of contract signing)
- Department-specific uniform guidelines and dress code must be reviewed
- Contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement must be completed (Hep C titer required if applicable)
- Smoking and tobacco use policy review required
- Influenza policy review required
- Flu exemption request and religious accommodation forms required if applicable
- Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and clearance forms (time sensitive; completed within 48 hours of contract signing)
- CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use must be reviewed
Health Documents & Immunizations
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- Respiratory fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- MMR titers (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) or documentation of vaccination/boosters
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella titer or documentation of vaccination/boosters
- Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start (instant test acceptable as placeholder)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)
