Registered Nurse (Home Health) - Elkins, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Home Health Registered Nurse (RN)
- Schedule: Days, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (5x8s)
- On Call: Approximately 1-2 weekdays per week and 1 weekend per month
- On Call Details: RN required to be on call 24/7; must answer patient calls and occasionally perform after-hours or weekend PRN visits.
- Local travelers within 75 miles are limited to two 13-week contracts.
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1+ years RN experience required; travel experience preferred
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA or ARC only)
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season with medical exemptions considered only with signed doctor’s note and completed exemption form. Religious exemptions are NOT accepted.
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid West Virginia RN license (online verification accepted; wallet card not required)
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC) as required by unit/job description
Background & Compliance Checks
- 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- WV CARES fingerprinting required for Home Health; provisional employment allowed up to 60 days while pending
- State-specific WV Nurse Aid Registry check required prior to start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start (updated annually)
- TB Test: Negative PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot within 1 year; annual updates required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required within 10 years
- Hepatitis B: Titer or declination required; series not accepted as substitute
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal titer
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal titer
- Drug Testing: 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start including alcohol and multiple drug categories
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required and updated annually
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Nov 1 - April); declinations not accepted; exemptions reviewed with mask requirement if approved
Facility Specific Requirements
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of CareLearning modules prior to start (approx. 3-4 hours)
- Signing of patient rights, confidentiality, and security agreements
- Completion of onboarding checklist by contracting agency
Documentation & History
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Performance evaluations if worked over 1 year with the facility
- Skills checklist required annually
- Complete employment application/resume
This position requires compliance with all facility and state regulations, including immunizations, background checks, and mandatory training prior to start.
