Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Dothan, Alabama
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Shift Details

  • Shift Options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour day shifts
  • Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6-7

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome
  • Must be proficient in drips including Cardizem, Tridil, Amiodarone
  • Unit is orthopedic with MS/tele overflow requiring cardiac drip skills at times
  • Must live at least 90 miles from the facility (no locals accepted)
  • Pending license holders are eligible
  • Previous permanent staff are ineligible for travel assignments for 10 years

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – ARC, AHA, or DoD accepted
  • NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS) – must be current within 1 year and updated annually; completed through facility after clearance
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not mandatory
  • Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, TNCC
  • State RN license verification required with exact name match on license and ID
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required

Licensing & Background Checks

  • State license must be current and renewed before assignment start
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history, SS trace, counties, nationwide, FACIS Level 3, sex offender, education verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results required prior to orientation (time sensitive)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual)
  • Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific approved masks only)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Flu vaccination required for all placements starting on or after 9/15; no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions on facility form accepted with mask requirement)
  • COVID-19 vaccine is voluntary

Competency & Documentation

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Core exams I-III from Prophecy highly preferred (HIPAA attestation required)
  • Proof of 2 clinical references within last 12 months (or 18 months if necessary)
  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Scrubs: Navy blue
  • Candidate must bring a valid driver’s license matching RN license name on first day
  • Photo for badge required within 72 hours of signing (passport-style, no nose rings)
  • Facility modules must be completed before orientation; no time to complete during orientation
  • Preferred badge name must be confirmed prior to start
  • Religious and medical vaccination exemption forms must be completed on facility-specific forms
