MRI Technologist - Diagnostic Imaging

Location: Rockford, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)

Job Description

• Perform MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
• Work 40 hours per week with various shift options:

  • 5 shifts of 8 hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
  • 4 shifts of 10 hours (8:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
  • 3 shifts of 12 hours (8:00 AM - 8:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM)
• May require occasional weekend shifts, on-call rotation, and holiday rotation.
• Flexibility to work alternate shifts and adjust hours as needed to support department needs.
• Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team, participate in committees and projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform MRI procedures under the order of a licensed medical practitioner.
• Prepare patients for procedures and provide instructions to ensure cooperation and minimize anxiety.
• Apply magnetic resonance safety principles to protect patients, self, and others.
• Operate MRI systems, surface coils, gating devices, and related equipment.
• Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the area of interest while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Immobilize patients as needed for accurate examination.
• Select appropriate pulse sequences based on protocols and data acquisition factors.
• Perform venipuncture, start and maintain venous access, and administer contrast media.
• Verify consent and screening forms; use proper scripting, barriers, and patient identifiers.
• Assist physicians with interventional procedures.
• Practice aseptic technique and observe universal precautions.
• Evaluate image quality and manipulate digital data for display and physician review.
• Provide for the physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
• Use radiology information systems (including PACS) to complete records, reports, and image archiving.
• Initiate basic life support when necessary.
• Provide practical instruction to partners and students.

Education & Experience

• Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
• Experience as an MRI Technologist required.

Certifications & Licensure

• ARRT Radiography registration required.
• ARRT MRI registration required.
• Approved CPR or BLS certification required.

Additional Information

• BLS/BCLS certification required.
• Position requires flexibility and teamwork.
