Radiation Therapist (Rad Tech) - Travel Position

Location: Albany, New York

Job Overview

• Administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist.
• Follow New York State Department of Health Code part 16 guidelines.
• Operate high voltage machinery safely and accurately.
• Communicate promptly about any equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain patient welfare and conduct professionally at all times.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Radiation Therapist in New York (can be obtained during onboarding).
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
• Completion of a Radiation Therapy Technology program from an AMA-approved school.
• Must meet registry requirements by ARRT and be licensed by the New York State Department of Health.

Responsibilities

• Provide radiation therapy as prescribed by a radiation oncologist following established standards.
• Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters in the electronic medical record.
• Interpret computerized treatment plans accurately.
• Observe patients daily for reactions and report adverse reactions immediately to the Radiation Oncology Nurse or Radiation Oncologist.
• Facilitate complex problem solving related to technical issues.
• Display professional conduct essential to patient well-being.
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols set by NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO.
