Description
Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician (Travel)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 4 shifts of 10 hours each (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- One late shift per week until 7:30 PM
- On-call requirements:
- One weekday call per week from 5:50 PM to 7:00 AM (end of shift)
- One 24-hour weekend call every 5 weeks (Saturday or Sunday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM)
- Call response time: 30 minutes
Required Certifications & Credentials
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association only, required for clinical positions
- License/Certificate Verification – Permanent valid license required (temporary licenses not accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – Positive titers within last 15 years; booster protocol applies if low titer
- Fit Test – Completed within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Hepatitis B – Proof of full series, partial series with declination, or positive titers within 15 years
- Varicella – Positive titers within last 15 years; booster protocol applies if low titer
- Tdap – Vaccination within last 10 years, no declinations accepted
- 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) – Negative test within last 6 months; annual requirement
- Influenza Vaccine – Required during flu season (October-March); declination requires mask and specific forms
- Physical/Health Statement – Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year, must state ability to work without restrictions
- Drug Screen – 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screens not accepted
Background & Verification Requirements
- Criminal Background Check – Within 6 months, including Social Security Trace, County searches, National Sex Offender check
- Ohio Fingerprints – Required for Ohio residents (BCI&I check and FBI fingerprint check if lived in Ohio less than 5 years)
- Education Verification – Highest level of education verified through third party; international equivalency required if applicable
- Employment Verification – Verification of employment within last 5 years through third party
- OIG Search – To be completed within 6 months prior to start
- SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Screening – To be completed within 6 months prior to start
- UHS I-9 Attestation – Proof of eligibility to work required
- UHS Social Security Trace and NSO – If not included in background check, must be completed within specified timeframes
Testing & Competency
- UHS Competency Exam – Must score at least 80%, completed within 1 year prior to start
- UHS Core Competencies – Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission-NPSG, OSHA topics; 80% passing score required
- UHS Skills Checklist – Clinical skill-specific checklist completed within 1 year prior to start
- UHS Module Completion Certificate – Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; annual renewal
Additional Requirements
- Driver's License/State ID – Non-expired photo ID required
- UHS Badge Photo – Recent headshot required (shoulders up, plain background, JPEG format)
- Submission Packet – Resume, 2 professional references (within last 2 years), job application, and employment history form required
This position requires strict adherence to credentialing, background checks, and compliance with health and safety protocols. Candidates must be prepared for on-call duties and a demanding schedule with extended shifts.
