Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location: Reno, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a telemetry unit. Responsible for patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the nursing process. The role requires delivering optimal patient outcomes over an entire episode of care, coordinating with other healthcare professionals, and maintaining high standards of clinical excellence in a fast-paced environment.


Unit & Patient Population

  • Telemetry unit with patient population including CHF, Alcohol Withdrawal, NSTEMI, sepsis, dysrhythmias, pneumonia, COPD, COVID-19, and post-procedure care (pacemakers, ablations, cath lab, OHS patients downgraded from ICU).
  • Medications include non-titratable cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Lasix, Nitro.
  • May float to ICU, medical-surgical units, or other appropriate assignments within the hospital system.

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
  • No call requirements, but may be required to work major holidays and pick up an additional shift during the schedule period.
  • Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts.
  • Floating to other units may be required based on competency and organizational needs.
  • The hospital reserves the right to reduce shifts with 48 hours’ notice for low census during the 13-week contract.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Nevada RN license required prior to start
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required.
  • Must pass a telemetry competency exam (including rhythm strip identification and measurement); failure results in contract termination.

Hospital Environment

  • Level II Trauma Center with Stroke accreditation
  • 800 inpatient beds, serving a 500-mile radius
  • Extremely busy and fast-paced, comparable to a Level I trauma center
