Description
Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Idaho (Twin Falls)
Job Details
- Specialty: Respiratory Therapy
- Location: Twin Falls, Idaho
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (6 PM to 6 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: As needed
- Call Requirement: Low census call per contract
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling with option for block scheduling
- Orientation: 1 week of unit/department-specific orientation (based on experience)
- Dress Code: Hunter green scrubs (must be worn, not provided)
- Floating: May float to ICU, floors, NICU, ER
Certifications Required
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- CRT or RRT
- STABLE
- NRP only required for NICU or travelers handling babies
Patient Population & Work Environment
- Patient types range from NICU to geriatrics
- Units include ICU, stepdown, MedSurg, small Pediatrics unit (no PICU), and level III NICU (vent occasionally)
- Work covers inpatient and ER settings
- Average treatments per day: up to 30 per shift, workload varies seasonally
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required
- NICU experience is a must
- First-time travelers are acceptable (prior travel experience NOT required)
Job Duties
- Draw and analyze ABGs
- Administer breathing treatments, BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilator management
- Assist with bedside bronchoscopies
- Assist with intubation and may place LMA (do not intubate independently)
- Does not perform EKGs
Equipment Used
- Drager vents
- Cervo-NICU
- Hamilton transport vent
- Vapotherm
- Philips V60 and V30
Additional Notes
- Always a team lead or charge therapist on shift; travelers may be charge depending on experience and willingness
- Traveler will never be the only RT in-house
- Must attend one department meeting per month
This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with at least 1 year of experience including NICU exposure, comfortable with a variety of patient populations and respiratory equipment, and willing to work 12-hour night shifts with some weekend and holiday coverage. Prior travel experience is not required.
