Scrub Tech Position - San Diego, California
Specialty: Scrub Tech (Operating Room)
Employment Type: Clinical - Allied - Travel
Location: San Diego, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide specific patient care duties and unit support activities in the operating room suite.
- Consistently comply with healthcare practices, policies (attendance, patient safety), and ethical standards.
- Complete and maintain all regulatory requirements including licensing, certification, and mandatory training (e.g., TB Testing, Safety Test, Compliance Training, HIPAA Training).
- Deliver quality care to OR patients by anticipating needs before and during procedures.
- Assist with dressings and/or cast application at the end of procedures.
- Follow physician preference cards for cases.
- Independently fulfill responsibilities without requiring direction.
- Document and communicate important data, including:
- Surgical counts before patient leaves or room.
- Counting instruments and accounting for complete trays.
- Reporting any exceptions.
- Updating surgeon preference cards.
- Complying with all count policies and procedures.
- Identify problems and take appropriate action to improve quality of care.
- Work additional or different shifts as requested.
- Take responsibility for one department task beyond routine duties.
- Submit written recommendations for process changes or cost containment.
- Participate in teaching activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a scrub person in a hospital setting.
- Strong experience in outpatient settings with outpatient procedures.
- Scrub Tech Certification preferred.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
