Occupational Therapist - Acute Care (Nampa, Idaho)

Job Details

  • Location: Nampa, Idaho
  • Specialty: Occupational Therapy - Acute Inpatient Adults
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
  • Shift: Four 10-hour shifts per week (7:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
  • Schedule: 8-week rotating schedule, typically every other full weekend with about 40% weekend coverage
  • Orientation: At least 2 days of unit-specific onboarding with an experienced OT preceptor; first week requires working Monday-Friday 5 eight-hour shifts for onboarding
  • Dress Code: Any color scrubs or business casual

Requirements

  • Certifications:
    • BLS Certification
    • State Occupational Therapy License
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience as a licensed therapist (acute rehab experience alone is not sufficient)
    • First-time travel therapists are welcome (prior travel experience NOT required)
  • Patient Population:
    • Adults in acute inpatient setting (excluding ICU unless strong prior ICU experience)
    • Common diagnoses include neurologic (CVA, MS, Parkinson’s, Guillain Barre), general medical, orthopedic (total joints, fractures), cardiac (pacers), oncology
  • Responsibilities:
    • Evaluate and treat adult acute care patients
    • Provide discharge recommendations
    • Communicate safe mobility plans to interdisciplinary team
  • EMR System: EPIC
  • Team:
    • 2-3 therapists per day treating 8-10 patients daily
    • Manager available on each shift
    • No COTAs; 2 Rehab Aides staffed

Additional Notes

  • Travelers generally do not work holidays but may be asked if needed
  • Must be able to cover all acute care adult populations except ICU (unless experienced)
  • Radius rule: Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for this travel position

This position covers a maternity leave starting February 8th, with potential extensions for additional contract periods.
